EXTENT OF THE FACADE INTERVENTION

DESCRIPTION
333 Broadway Street - formerly the Worker's Compensation Board of Manitoba, Monarch Life Building - is a commercial office building in Winnipeg, Canada. Originally built in 1961, the building underwent a facade retrofit in 2011. Original materials were conserved in the intervention with the goal of maintaining the original design. More than 4,000 granite panels were removed to improve the envelope system. After removing asbestos, the new wall cladding and new windows were installed. New coping stones, supplied by the same granite quarry as fifty years earlier, were installed at the roof, again to maintain the original detailing at the facade.
