Whole window replacement / renovation (including new frame)
DESCRIPTION 555 Fifth Avenue, originally built in 1955 underwent a re-clad in 1995. The facade retrofit consisted in replacing the horizontal, white brick banding with a vertical emphasis. A 2-story retail base with granite and bronze-framed storefront was renovated. The new facade contemplated alternating fins of granite and semi-circular aluminum ribs of varying diameters. Windows are operable and integral with the mullions. Greenhouse-type offices were created on top floors. The facade retrofit was implemented following the existing interior walls and column spacing, while maintaining the building occupied.
