DESCRIPTION
811 Louisiana, formerly known as Two Shell Plaza, is a commercial office in Houston, Texas, United States. The building was originally constructed in 1972 and the facade was retrofitted in 2015. The retrofit involved mainly the re-clad of the first four floors in Virginia Mist granite, a dark natural stone that contrasts with the existing travertine above. Slot windows complement the existing architecture, and the new facade is highlighted by a continuous band of LED light. A recessed glass wall at the ground level draws pedestrians into the newly renovated lobby. Metal louver canopies will provide shading for pedestrians. In the early 1990s the building underwent a complete upgrade of its mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
